In the small village of Launton, just outside Bicester you will find the Humming Bird Centre which is a charity organisation that provides support and therapy for people at any stage of their cancer journey, including survivors struggling to express how they feel about surviving, which can also be a difficult emotion to cope with.
In the Summer of 2019, The Hummingbird centre put the call out to local trades and manufacturers to help them transform a former office into a new holistic therapy building.
The Hummingbird centre were inundated with offers to help from builders, electricians, plumbers, painters & decorators and more. Local businesses such as Andura donated paint for the project, whilst other companies provided carpets, worktops and more. Large donations were also received to pay for brand equipment such as new electric massage beds and stools.
The Hummingbird centre is a free service reliant completely on donations and volunteers and nobody within the charity takes a wage, which makes what this small charity does even more incredible.
Due to their hard work the Hummingbird centre recently received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. More details can be found on their website: http://www.thehummingbirdcentre.org.uk/
Since November 2018 Andura have very proudly been working together with communities and the British Coatings Federation to turn disused Telephone Boxes into Community Public Access Defibrillator sites or cPADs.
Andura's small part in this fantastic cause is to supply free paint and undercoat to local parish councils, so they can transform their telephone boxes. Through this joint venture we hope to preserve not only the lives of the 30,000 people who suffer cardiac arrest every year, but to also preserve a part of our British Heritage and culture, that is so well represented by the good old fashioned red telephone box.
